THE NEW YOU

Your life is going nowhere fast
You never stand out
(just a face in the crowd)
And you have to if you want success
(and I know that you want success, doesn't everybody want success)

You need a gimmick
You need a shtick
You need to change something
You need to re-invent it
Change your name
Lift your face
Change your everything

I like it

I much prefer the new you
So much better than the old you
The new you
So much better than the old you

People are finally going to notice you
Hey, who is that man?
(I like what he's doing)
Let's give him lots of money
(send him a check, sign him up)

What a gimmick!
What a shtick!
The kids will love that!
The kids will imitate it!
They'll change their names
They'll lose some weight
Spread make up on their faces

They'll like it

They'll much prefer the new you
They'll much prefer the new you
The new you
So much better than the old you

Three cheers for the modern you
Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
Three cheers for the modern you
Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!
Three cheers for the modern you
Hip hip hooray! Hip hip hooray!

I like it

I much prefer the new you
I much prefer the new you
I much prefer the new you
I much prefer...

BACK TOGETHER

Hey baby, how have you been?
Yeah?
Cool…
Me, I’ve been fine
Well, actually not really
I’ve kind of had a rough time lately

See, I’ve been thinking ‘bout you every day
Yeah, every time I pass that spot in the pavement
Where we scratched in both our names
Yeah, I know you’re probably still mad about the way I ended things

Just think it might be time to get back together
It might be time to admit we were wrong
Ok, I was wrong
I could not find anything better
So I’m crawling back to say
It might be time
It might be time

Oh really
You are seeing someone new
Who is he? I’ll kill him…
Hey, come on I’m kidding
But does he make you happy?

Does he think about you every day
Just like I have ever since the girl I left you for
Showed me where to find the door?
Come on now baby, I’m just joking again

Just think it might be time to get back together
It might be time to admit we were wrong
Ok, I was wrong
I could not find anything better
So I’m crawling back to say
It might be time
It might be time

I know that it’s a “go back”
And that they never work
I know that it’s a “go back”
And that I’ve been a jerk
I won’t be a jerk…

I CAN’T SAY HI

What, you can’t say hi?
Hello, how are you?
No, I can’t say hi
Hello, Hello
Just want to walk on by
Like I don’t know you
No, I can’t say hi
Hello, Hello

I see you walking down the street
I look at the ground
So our eyes don’t meet
‘Cause I can’t deal with small talk
No, not today
Not to mention I can’t even remember your name
Yeah, don’t it start with a D or a G?
Something like David, Gavin or Donny
Well, it makes no difference
We’re not gonna meet
‘Cause when I saw you coming
I just crossed the street

No, I can’t say hi
Hello, how are you?
I can’t say hi
Hello, Hello
Just want to walk on by
Like I don’t know you
No, I can’t say hi
Hello, hello

I know it’s no big deal to nod or to wave
‘Cause that’s all that’s required
In these situations
I barely know you
God knows where we met
Yeah, at some stupid party
Around a bathroom sink
Well, that still don’t mean
I got to stop in my tracks
Every time I take a walk to relax
Yeah, it just don’t matter
‘Cause we’re not gonna meet
When I saw you coming
I just crossed the street

No, I can’t say hi
Hello, how are you?
No, I can’t say hi
Hello, Hello
Just want to walk on by
Like I don’t know you
No, I can’t say hi
Hello, Hello

When I see you coming
When I see you coming
I just want to cross the street

I can’t say hi
Just want to walk on by
No, I can’t say hi
Just want to walk on by
Good-bye…

WHOLE WIDE WORLD

(written by Wreckless Eric)

When I was a young boy
My mama said to me
There's only one girl in the world for you
And she probably lives in Tahiti

I go the whole wide world
just to find her
I go the whole wide world
just to find her
(just to find her)
Yeah...

Well, maybe she's in the Bahamas
Where the Caribbean Sea is blue
Weeping in a tropical moonlit night
Because nobody's thought about you

Why am I hanging around in the rain out here?
Trying to pick up a girl
Why am my eyes filling up with these lonely tears?
When there are girls all over the world

I go the whole wide world
just to find her
I go the whole wide world
just to find her
(just to find her)

Ou est tu?

Well is she lying on a tropical beach somewhere
Underneath a tropical sun
Finding her way in a heat wave there
Hoping that I won't be long?

I should be lying on a sunset beach with her
Caressing her warm brown skin
And then in a year or maybe not quite
We'll be sharing the same next of kin

I go the whole wide world
just to find her

Ou est tu?
Where are you?
I'm waiting
I'm weeping
I'm waiting

NOT THE RIGHT TIME

I haven’t found anything wrong with you
Even my mother thinks you’re something special
You’re comical
(She’s got it all)
You’re oh so sexual
You’re everything but there is just one problem

It’s not the right time
It’s not the time to fall in love
It’s not the right time
(It’s just the wrong time)
To fall…
Is it every gonna be the time?

My friends already thought I was crazy
But now they wanna lock up
(Don’t screw this up)
They sick of hearing me complain much
‘Bout how I’m tired of being alone
And now I wanna “go cat go”

It’s not the right time
It’s not the time to fall in love
It’s not the right time
(It’s just the wrong time)
To fall…
No, it’s never gonna be the time

(Come on, man, it’s time to grow up)
Is it ever gonna be the time?
(You’re no spring chicken)
Is it ever gonna be the time?
No, it’s never gonna be the time
Is it ever gonna be the time?

Is it ever gonna be the time to fall?
No, it’s never gonna be the time to fall…

GENERATIONAL PATTERN

Something tells me I need to live in the city
Something tells me I used to live on a farm
Something tells me my bathtub’s in the kitchen
Something tells me I’ve tattoos on my arms
Something tells me I used to be religious
Something tells me that this will carry on and on…

Don’t let me near your mirror
Please don’t be my model
I’m following a generational pattern
Don’t let me near your mirror
Please don’t be my model
I’m following…

Something tells him he needs to live in the suburbs
Something tells him he came here from an island
Something tells him he needs to change his name
Something tells him he should play the corporate game
Something tells him he used to have no money
Something tells him that this will carry on and on…

Don’t let him near your mirror
Don’t let him be my model
I’m following a generational pattern
Don’t let me near your mirror
Please don’t be my model
I’m following a generational pattern

Things tend to go in cycles
Things tend to go in cycles
Things tend to go in cylces
Things tend to go in cylces
We’re on a loop…

You know what I’m doing, man
I’m following a generational pattern…

Don’t let him near your mirror
Don’t let him be my model
I’m following a generational pattern
Don’t let me near your mirror
Please don’t be my model
I’m following a generational pattern

GIMME THE NITE

Nothing in common
You hate the movies I like
You hate my hair
I hate your clothes
Everything's wrong
But that's all right

Change your mind
It's last call soon
Your place or mine?

Gimme the nite to talk with you
Gimme the nite to sleep with you
Gimme the nite, I promise you
It's no big thing I do this all the time

I got a feeling you're like me
A damaged package filled with uncertainty
You hate those awkward breakfasts for two
But that don't matter, I hate them two

Change your mind
It's last call soon
Make up your mind

Gimme the nite to talk with you
Gimme the nite to sleep with you
Gimme the nite, I promise you
It's no big thing I do this all the time

21st CENTURY WORD

I want a planet of my own
I’ll use my schizoid children to gain control
They can see into the future
A thousand buildings going up
Tips on land I can invest in
I like my children all screwed up

Gubble, gubble, a 21st century word
(time slip)
Gubble, gubble, a 21st century word
(time slip)
In the 21st century

With a kind of x-ray vision
He sees inside skulls, inside skin
Greens turn to rotten things
A nightmare, endless decay
He sees the buildings crumble
But I don’t care
I want to make money
I want to be king

A very distant planet to call home
A brood of schizoid children all my own
They can see into the future
Some people say that it’s a curse
I say language is overrated
I like my children and their couple of words

Gubble, gubble, a 21st century word
(time slip)
Gubble, gubble, a 21st century word
(time slip)
In the 21st century

Tell it to me
I don’t understand

Time slip in the 21st century

SOCIAL LIFE

Social life
Social life
Everybody thinks I need more social life

“You look so pale”
“You look like you’ve been living in a jail”

Oh, everybody thinks I need more social life

Social life
Social life
Everybody else is going out tonight

“Don’t you care ‘bout what’s going on?”
“This isolationism’s gone too far”
Come on

Everybody else is going out tonight

Social Life
Social Life
Everybody thinks that I am not all right

“We think it’s time that you do get some help”
“We worry that you’re gonna kill yourself”

Everybody needs a little social life

Social life
“You gotta have a little”
“What’s the matter with you?”
You gotta get outta that apartment
Come up for air…

COOL SCOUTS

The first time cool scouts came my way
Was the first time anyone cared what I said
The DJ asked me what to play
Designers inquired what we wore that day

Cool scouts coming
Let’s run away

Cool scouts coming to take ideas
Cool scouts coming to find next year
This time I’ll lie through my teeth
Cool scouts coming
Teel them the wrong thing’s neat

Cool scouts coming
Let’s run away

MYTH AMERICA

Echo says, that heroes mean nothing
Echo says, there’s nothing original to say
Emulation is the only answer
In platitudes and quotes that rhyme

She’s lost all faith
She says the truth don’t mean nothing
An empty space in heart and mind
It makes a stomach drop
It’s a hard way to live your life

Miss Myth America
Miss Myth America
Where there’s nothing left to say
Miss Myth America
Miss Myth America
All your heroes gone away
She’ll get you
Echo says

Forget your dreams, girl
It’s just a set-up, man
You think she’s pretty in pink
But she’s not who you think she is
It must be fate
That your heroes mean nothing
Emancipate, free your mind
It makes a stomach drop
It’s a hard way…
It make you now regurgitate this thing called pop
It’s your only life

I’m on a quest for her

Miss Myth America
Miss Myth America
Where there’s nothing left to say
Miss Myth America
Miss Myth America
All your heroes gone away
She’ll get you
Echo says that heroes mean nothing

You know who you look like?
Who?
Come on, do you know who you look like?
No, who?
Come on, it’s a movie star…shit…
Wait, I got it…

Glamour they sold you
Platitudes and quotes that rhyme
Adopt every attitude
Champions explode in time
So, throw away everything
Yeah, I know what they told you
I know what they sold to you

Miss Myth America
Miss Myth America
Where there’s nothing left to say
Miss Myth America
Miss Myth America
All your heroes gone away
She’ll get you
Echo says…
All your heroes gone

WE NEVER MADE IT TO VENICE

We never made it to Venice
We didn’t last very long
We didn’t make it to Venice
Our little fling fell apart
We never made it at all
We never made it to Venice
We didn’t last very long
We never made it to Venice
We never go that hotel
We never made it to Venice
We didn’t last very long

A romantic way to tour Venice is aboard a gondola at sunset. As you travel down the Grand Canal you sail past the great churches and simple homes of the Venetians. The trip takes you beneath many bridges, including the most famous, the Rialto Bridge. Another is the Bridge of Sighs, where countless lovers have exchanged countless pledges of fidelity. Such fidelity is tested at carnival time, however, when devout but pragmatic Venetians don colorful masks to act out their last-minute desires before the start of the Easter season. We recommend a stay at one of the fine hotels that overlooks the lagoon. The Londra Palace, for example, with its 19th century furniture, fine original paintings and marble bathrooms. It also offers one of Venice’s most romantic views of the famed Island of San Giorgio and Palladian church. The Hotel Giorgione, once a palace of the 15th century is a peaceful oasis in the heart of Venice. with four stars it offers a perfect blend of old fashioned charm, modern comfort and polite service. A few steps from the legendary San Marco Square is the Hotel Bisanzio. For years lovers have reveled in the unforgettably romantic atmosphere. a Jacuzzi accompanies every one of its 70 rooms. Adjacent is the Basilica de San Marco, which is one of the most famous buildings in all of Venice. Built to honor the apostle, Mark, the walls and ceilings are adorned with great art. There are more than 43,000 feet of gold mosaics. The Pala d’oro has 250 gold plated paintings and is covered with precious gems including 1,300 pearls, 400 garnets, 90 rubies, 300 emeralds, 90 amethysts, and 300 sapphires. Saint Mark’s body, which was lost after a fire in 976, miraculously reappeared a century later and is stored in the alcove. The Basilica’s roof glimmers with ornate statues of bronze and gold. The best time to experience San Marco is during a high mass when the ceremony brings the church to life. It can be toured daily and some tours are conducted in English.
